Analyze one patient using PCBS’s test

Analyze one patient’s (2 weeks and 2 months post stroke) postural control by using PCBS-test

Watch the following video and measure the patient’s postural control by using the PCBS-test and evaluate how the patient’s postural control improved by using the PCBS – test scale and describe also by verbally by using the description bellow. Patient’s PCBS test performances 2 weeks and 2 months after stroke.

At 2 weeks, after stroke, regarding to posture changes, the patient is independent but decreased control (11 points or classification 2). Indeed, she demonstrates slowness movement. Nevertheless, 2 months later, the patient is independent and fluent (20 point or classification 3).

At 2 weeks, regarding to sitting balance, the patient has difficulties in controlling balance (4 points or classification 1). The client is not able to touching a mark spot on the right side nor bending down to pick up a beanbag 20 cm from the toes on the floor.

However, 2 months later, the patient can rotate independently on the left side which was not possible at 2 weeks and can also bend down to pick up a beanbag 20 cm from the toes on the floor. She obtained 13 points or classification 3, which significate that she has a good control of sitting balance.

Regarding static balance, the patient has difficulties in controlling static balance (4 points or classification 1). The client is not able to standing up on one foot of both sides. 2 months later, she has a moderate control of balance because she was able to handle standing up for 2 seconds on the left foot.

At 2 weeks, regarding to dynamic balance, the patient is not able in controlling balance and can touch a mark spot with the elbow on both sides safely (3 points or classification 1). However, 2 months later, the patient has a moderate controlling balance (17 points or classification 2). Different tasks impossible to do before like reach up a beanbag in a feet walking position or turning 360° in place are achieved. In summary, the patient demonstrates a good improvement in postural changes, sitting position and dynamic balance in 2 months after stroke compared in 2 weeks. Static balance, though, is still weak compare to others elements.
