Base of Support: The area in contact with the ground and the distance between this point
Center of Mass: The point at which the mass of the body is equally balanced.
Line of Gravity: A vertical line which passes through the Center of Mass to the ground.
Ankle/Hip strategy (fixed support strategies): These reactions happened when the BOS can be maintained but the LOG and COM adapt themselves.
Stepping or grasping strategy (change in support strategies): These reactions happened when the BOS cannot be maintained and consequences are getting a stable BOS or LOG or COM.
Reactive (adaptative): It happened when the balance cannot be maintained after an unpredictable disturbance and it is required to use a strategy (change in support) to redress the balance.
Predictive (anticipatory): It happened when the person anticipates the disturbance and is able to adapt his movement using different strategies (fixed support and change in support) to maintain the balance during the disturbance.
