What is a stroke?

Rapid death of brain tissue due to a disturbance in blood supply
Two main types:
- Ischemic Stroke (loss of blood flow) – Most common 80%
- Hemorrhagic Stroke (bleeding) – 20%
Brain cells start to malfunction after about 3 mins from loss of oxygen supply and glucose
Most of the time irreversible (neurons die after about 4mins without oxygen)
